Breakthrough! is an album by the Cedar Walton/Hank Mobley Quintet recorded on February 22, 1972, originally released on the short-lived Cobblestone label and rereleased on the Muse label. It features performances by Hank Mobley and Cedar Walton with Charles Davis, Sam Jones and Billy Higgins and would be Mobley's final studio recording before he retired due to lung problems.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states "As strong as pianist Cedar Walton plays on his session, the main honors are taken by two of his sidemen. Tenor-saxophonist Hank Mobley, whose career was about to go into a complete eclipse, is in brilliant form, showing how much he had grown since his earlier days. Baritonist Charles Davis, who too often through the years has been used as merely a section player, keeps up with Mobley and engages in a particularly memorable tradeoff on the lengthy title cut. Mobley is well-showcased on "Summertime," Davis switches successfully to soprano on "Early Morning Stroll," and Walton (with the trio) somehow turns the "Theme From Love Story" into jazz. Highly recommended".
Breakthrough is a global human rights organization working to end violence against women and girls.
Based in India and the United States, Breakthrough's multimedia campaigns address global issues including violence against women, sexuality and HIV/AIDS, and immigrant rights and racial justice. Breakthrough envisions a world in which all people enjoy their human rights and live with dignity, equality, and justice. We can build this world by making violence and discrimination against women and girls unacceptable.
Their mission is to prevent violence against women and girls by transforming the norms and cultures that enable it. They carry out this mission by building a critical mass of change agents worldwide — the Breakthrough Generation — whose bold collective action will deliver irreversible impact on the issue of our time. Working out of centers in India and the U.S., Breakthrough creates innovative, relevant multimedia tools and programs — from short animations to long-term leadership training — that reach individuals and institutions where they are, inspiring and equipping them to build a world in which all people live with dignity, equality, and justice.
A breakthrough occurs when an offensive force has broken the enemy defensive line, and is rapidly exploiting the gap.
Usually, large force is employed on a relatively small portion of the front to achieve this. While the line may have held for a long while prior to the breakthrough, the breakthrough marks a relatively small time frame where the pressure on the defender leads him to "snap" in a very short time span.
As the first unit breaks, the adjacent units suffer adverse results from this (spreading panic, additional defensive angles, threat to supply lines) and, since they were already pressured as well, leads them to "snap" as well, causing a domino-style collapse of the defensive system. The defensive force thus evaporates at the breakthrough point, giving the attacker the option to rapidly move troops into the gap, exploiting the breakthrough in width (by attacking enemy units at the edge of the breakthrough, so widening it), in depth (advancing into enemy territory and strategic objectives), or a combination of both.
In signal processing, the energy of a continuous-time signal x(t) is defined as
the energy of a discrete-time signal x(t) is defined as
Energy in this context is not, strictly speaking, the same as the conventional notion of energy in physics and the other sciences. The two concepts are, however, closely related, and it is possible to convert from one to the other:
For example, if x(t) represents the potential (in volts) of an electrical signal propagating across a transmission line, then Z would represent the characteristic impedance (in ohms) of the transmission line. The units of measure for the signal energy would appear as volt2·seconds, which is not dimensionally correct for energy in the sense of the physical sciences. After dividing by Z, however, the dimensions of E would become volt2·seconds per ohm, which is equivalent to joules, the SI unit for energy as defined in the physical sciences.
"Energy" is the debut single by American recording artist Keri Hilson. The song was written and produced by The Runaways, consisting of Louis Biancaniello, Sam Watters, Rico Love, and Wayne Wilkins, for her studio album In a Perfect World… (2009).
The track was released as the first single from the singer's debut in the United States on May 27, 2008. Although being released worldwide it initially only charted in New Zealand at number two and only managed to reach top thirty on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Dance Club Play charts.
Generally well received by music critics, it was named sixty-first on The Top 144 Songs of 2008 listing by Blender magazine.
"Energy" was written and produced by The Runaways. It was also recorded by The Runaways at Homesite 13 studios in Novato, California. and Hilson stated that she wanted to prove that she can be successful even without collaborations and guest vocalists and so it was announced "Energy" would be released as the next worldwide single following the success of "Knock You Down". The song was released on September 14, 2009 in the UK. On September 25, 2009 she appeared live on breakfast TV show GMTV in the UK where she performed the single. That same day, she appeared on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge where she performed a stripped version of "Energy" as well as a gospel cover version of "Supernova" originally sung by Mr Hudson and Kanye West.
On September 18, 2001, Collective Soul released their greatest hits compilation Seven Year Itch: Greatest Hits, 1994-2001 (stylized as 7even Year Itch). Seven Year Itch received decent reviews and was relatively successful It sold 225,000 copies in the first year after its release and reached number fifty on the Billboard 200; in Canada, it reached number nine on its albums chart and went platinum. All the songs in Seven Year Itch had charted in the US on the Billboard Hot 100, Mainstream Rock Tracks, or the Modern Rock Tracks chart, except for "Energy", which debuted in this compilation.
The compilation has sold over 500,000 copies. It saw a resurgence in sales after Collective Soul began putting out albums on their own independent label, El Music Group, beginning in 2004.

She Wolf (Spanish: Loba) is the eighth studio album by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira. It was released on 9 October 2009, by Epic Records and Sony Music Latin. As executive producers, Shakira and Amanda Ghost enlisted collaborators including The Neptunes, John Hill, Wyclef Jean, Lukas Burton, Future Cut, Jerry Duplessis and Timbaland. Musically, the record shifts from her traditional Latin pop and pop rock musical styles, instead exploring electropop, with influences of folk and world music. The lyrical themes of the album mostly focus on love and relationships and were based on the conversations Shakira had with her friends.
She Wolf reached number one on the charts of Argentina, Ireland, Italy, Mexico and Switzerland. It also charted inside the top five in Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom. Bill Gates (Breakthrough Energy, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), Rich Lesser (BCG Global Chair) and Judith Wallenstein (BCG Managing Director & Senior Partner) discuss the launch of new initiative Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, which aims to find, finance, scale and buy new zero-carbon economy solutions. It explores the importance of climate technology and policy, in light of COP26.
Bill Gates created Breakthrough Energy, an organization that partners with the private, public, and philanthropic sectors around the world to invest in climate technologies to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
It's being called the billionaires' coalition. Rubbing shoulders with the world leaders at COP21 in Paris, some high-tech gurus are adding their weight to the battle to contain climate change. Panel Speakers: John Hemminger University of California -- Irvine George Crabtree University of Chicago Marc Kastner Massachusetts Institute of Technology The pathway to a secure, low-carbon energy economy will undoubtedly require accelerated development of a suite of advanced technologies, underpinned by a sustained commitment to research and development. Many options hold great promise -- solar photovoltaics, efficiency, battery and storage technologies -- but their realization will rely on further advances in our understanding of basic science. Basic science stands at the dawn of an age in which materials can be built with atom-by-atom precision, and computational models can predict the behavior of previously non-existing materials before they are made. These capabilities, unthin...
